How to Opt-Out

Stop receiving messages at any time

Text Any of These Keywords to Stop Messages

Reply to any message from Check on Mine with one of these words:

STOP UNSUBSCRIBE CANCEL QUIT END

What Happens When You Opt-Out

For Emergency Contacts

If you reply STOP, you will immediately stop receiving all alerts from Check on Mine. The person who added you will be notified that you've opted out, and they should designate a new emergency contact. Important: This means you won't be notified if they have an emergency.

For Account Holders

If you reply STOP, you will stop receiving check-in reminders and other service messages to your phone. Your account will still function, but phone-based notifications will be disabled. You can re-enable them in your account settings.

Re-Subscribing After Opting Out

If you change your mind and want to receive messages again:

  • Emergency Contacts: Ask the person to re-add you as an emergency contact. You'll receive a new consent request.
  • Account Holders: Log into your account and re-enable SMS notifications in Settings, or text START to our number.

Opting Out of Voice Calls Only

If you want to receive SMS alerts but not voice calls, you can configure this in your emergency contact preferences (if you have a Check on Mine account) or contact us directly to update your preferences.

Message Frequency

How often you might receive messages

For Account Holders

Message frequency depends on the features you enable:

  • Check-in Reminders: Based on your schedule (daily, weekly, etc.)
  • Medication Reminders: As scheduled for each medication
  • Trip Alerts: Only during active trips

For Emergency Contacts

Emergency contacts receive messages only when something may be wrong. Under normal circumstances, you may never receive a message. Typical scenarios:

  • Check-in Escalations: Only if the user doesn't respond to their check-in (rare)
  • SOS Emergencies: Only when the user triggers the emergency button (hopefully never)
  • Inactivity Alerts: Only when unusual inactivity is detected (rare)
  • Trip Overdue: Only if the user doesn't arrive at their destination on time

Low Volume by Design

Check on Mine is designed to be quiet. We only send alerts when they matter. Most emergency contacts go weeks or months without receiving any messages - which means everything is fine!

Voice Call Frequency

Voice calls are reserved for critical emergencies only:

  • SOS emergency button activations
  • Critical escalations after multiple missed check-ins

You should rarely, if ever, receive an automated voice call from Check on Mine.
